Female Anatomy
The female reproductive system is inside the body, but do you know what it consists of? It is involved in fertility, sexual activity, pregnancy, menstruation, and more. The anatomy of your reproduction system has many parts that are involved in it.
Internal View
Ovaries- there are two ovaries that are beside the uterus. This is where the eggs are held/ released from and hormones are made. When the egg is released, this is called ovulation.
Fallopian Tubes- these tubes are what “connects” the ovary to the uterus. This is a thin tube that connects so the egg can travel into the uterus.
Uterus- this is where the egg is held, and where the lining is shed that causes a period. If the egg is fertilized, then this is also where the baby grows.
Cervix- this is the connection between the uterus and the vagina. This is also where the gynecologists are looking most of the time.
Vagina- the vagina is connected to the cervix to the vaginal opening. The blood of a menstruation/period is released here. It is also where a tampon or cup is held when on a period.
The Vulva
The Vulva is also good information to know. The vulva is the outer part where you can see the external part of the genitalia. There are many different parts of this including the mons pubis, which is the area when standing, is directly below your lower stomach. After puberty this is where the hair is grown.
Next is the skin between the legs, many people call these the lips. The outer ones are the labia majora while the inner ones are the labia minora. Their job is to protect the vaginal opening and the urethra.
Lastly, we are moving to the inner folds this is where (from top to anus) is the clitoris, the urethra, the vagina, and then the anus. The urethra is where the urine comes out of. The vagina is where the period blood comes out of. This is why when you have a tampon in, you can still use the bathroom without hinderance.
