    Nutrition, Food, and You

Nutrition is what you consume that helps your body run properly, the important thing is that you are taking in good nutrients. A balanced diet is portioned into fruit, veggies, and other categories. However, for many people in west Virginia they know this information, but do not have access to them. Below I have links to people who can help or resources available. But what is good nutrients?

    Macronutrients- carbohydrates, fat, protein

    Micronutrients- minerals and vitamins

There are also many diets or beliefs that people have that effect their intake. Some cannot eat meat, some cannot eat animal products, some people cannot have protein, some cannot have much sodium. Everyone is different and it is important to help those if they need it. Superfoods is also a term that is common. This means a food that is high nutrients like berries, leafy greens, fatty fish, yogurt, whole grains, nuts, olive oil, legumes, cruciferous veggies. There are also vitamins that you may have to take to help if it is difficult to get enough. As you get older, your diet changes again with diseases or allergies you may have, and this is normal.

    Water Intake

Water intake is also just as important as nutrients. Water helps keep the body at proper temperatures, flushes out and prevents infections, is in your joints to cushion them, and helps brain function. How much you need depends on your age, biological gender, exercise level, environment, and much more. It is important to drink water and know when you should drink more. Some things that include when you should drink more is when you have diarrhea, vomiting bladder infections, kidney stones, while exercising, and fever. Pregnancy is also very important to keep up your intake.
